Purpose
A list of different desktop PCMCIA/Cardbus slots you might find for sale all over the internet. Here as a reference so you can link some random card to the correct slot and vice-versa.

- For Elan P-series PCI card readers based on the Cirrus PD6729 PCI-to-PCMCIA bridge chip, the
i82365driver requires a ```irq_mode=1`” parameter. - With SCM Microsystems SBP series PCI card readers (which are also being distributed with Lucent WaveLAN IEEE cards), and for the Synchrotech PCM-CR-PC2IF and PCM-CR-PC2IR, it is necessary to specify ```irq_mode=0
'' for thei82365` module, to force use of PCI interrupts. - The PLX Technologies PCI9052 (also sold as the Linksys WDT11) is not a general purpose PCMCIA card reader at all: it is a PCI interface card for use with certain wireless adapters, that makes them look like ordinary PCI devices. These devices are not supported.

IBM
HI001 / 49P4378
R5C522 controller, Cardbus and FireWire controller. Its the same controller used Thinkpad A30p, X30, and some versions of X31 (source).
Tow external FW/1394 6-pin connectors, and one 4-pin internal connector.
Probably an OEM controller used in IBM (pre-Lenovo) desktops cira 2003-2004. Best candidate is NetVista A30 / A30p (8310), from 2003. From IBM Refbook:
Some: Combination FireWire/PCMCIA PCI adapter / FireWire: 1394A, 400Mbps, dual 6-pin ports on rear, 4-pin port on front of system, no cables included / two PCMCIA Type I or two Type II slots in front lower left of system
It’s unknown if this card/kit supports 32-bit cardbus. While R5C522 does support cardbus, but that IBM refbook simply says “PCMCIA”.

16-bit only, does not support cardbus

PCD-TP-EXP
Oddball kit that combines Cardbus and ExpressCard in one bay module. Uses two controller cards:
- PCIe x1 card for ExpressCard (uses HDMI cable for PCIe, and mini-USB for USB)

Supports 2 type II or 1 type III PC-Card. 16- and 32-bit cards (Cardbus) supported.
Single ExpressCard 54 slot. Supports PCIe and USB cards. USB-based ExpressCards are hot-swappable. PCIe mode ExpressCards are not hot-swappable.
Both “controller” cards aren’t really controllers at all: they’re completely passive.
All devices feature a “made in taiwan” graphic:
(source: eBay)
PCE10
Like the PCD-TP-EXP, but without the PC Card/Cardbus part.
PCIe x1 card for ExpressCard (PCIe looks like mini-SAS, and mini-USB for USB)
Provides a single ExpressCard 54 slot. Supports PCIe and USB cards. USB-based ExpressCards are hot-swappable. PCIe mode ExpressCards are not hot-swappable.
The “controller” card isn’t really a controller at all: it’s completely passive.
All devices feature a “made in taiwan” graphic:
(source: psism.com)
